Frequently asked questions

A handmade piece is a considered purchase. Below are the questions I'm asked most often. If yours isn't answered here, please get in touch, I reply to every enquiry personally.

Ordering & Lead Times

How long will my order take? Most ready-to-order pieces are handmade to order in my Scarborough atelier. Please allow 3 to 6 weeks from order to dispatch. A small selection of standard sizes is held in the atelier; if you order one of these, it will be posted within 1 to 2 working days. If you need a piece for a specific date, please contact me before you order and I'll let you know what's possible.

Why aren't items in stock? Because nothing is mass-produced. Each garment is cut, sewn, and finished by hand once you order it. Which means no waste, no warehouse, and a piece made specifically for you. A small number of standard sizes are kept in the atelier for those who can't wait.

Can I order something I've seen on Instagram or in a magazine that isn't on the website? Yes. Get in touch with a link or screenshot and I'll let you know what's available.

Do you offer gift vouchers? Yes. Gift vouchers are available in a range of denominations and can be used against any ready-to-order piece or bespoke commission. Buy a gift voucher here or contact me if you'd like a different amount.

Shipping & Delivery

Where do you ship? Currently the United Kingdom only. International orders may be possible by arrangement. Please contact me before ordering.

How will my order be sent? Tracked and signed-for delivery. You'll receive tracking details by email when your piece is dispatched.

Can I collect from the atelier? Yes, please contact me to arrange collection from Scarborough.

Returns & Exchanges

What is your returns policy? Ready-to-order pieces can be returned within 14 days of receipt, provided they are unworn, unwashed, and in their original condition with all tags attached. Please contact me before returning anything so I can advise on the process.

Are bespoke and made-to-measure pieces returnable? No. Bespoke and made-to-measure pieces are created to your individual specifications and cannot be returned or exchanged. This is standard practice for couture work.

What if something doesn't fit? Get in touch. For ready-to-order pieces, we'll arrange a return or exchange. For bespoke, fittings are built into the process precisely so this doesn't happen - see below.

Bespoke & Made-to-Measure

What does bespoke mean? A piece designed and made specifically for you - your measurements, your fabric, your detailing. Nothing is taken from a pattern block. It is the highest level of garment-making and the foundation of my work for the past 32 years.

How does the process work? It begins with a consultation, in person at the atelier or by video call. We discuss what you have in mind, look at fabrics, take measurements, and agree a design. From there, I create the toile (a calico version of the garment), followed by three fittings to refine the cut before the final piece is made.

How long does bespoke take? Typically 8 to 16 weeks, depending on the complexity of the piece and the time of year. Wedding dresses sit at the longer end. Three-piece suits are usually completed within 8 weeks. Please get in touch as early as possible, particularly for wedding work.

What does it cost? Bespoke starts at:

  • Wedding dresses — from £3,000
  • Mother of the bride / groom — from £1,000
  • Prom and occasion wear — from £950
  • Men's jackets — from £1,000
  • Men's three-piece suits and coats — from £2,000

Final price depends on fabric, design, and detailing. I'll always provide a written quote before any work begins.

Visiting the Atelier

Can I visit? Yes - by appointment only. The atelier is in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and is where every piece is made. Visits are private and unhurried.

What happens at a visit? Whatever serves you. For bespoke clients, it's consultation, fabric selection, measurements, or fittings. For ready-to-order customers, it's the chance to see and try pieces in person before ordering. Refreshments included.

How do I book? Use the Contact page to request an appointment.

Sizing & Fit

What size will fit me? Ready-to-order pieces follow standard UK sizing. Please see the Size Guide for measurements.

What if I'm between sizes? Get in touch with your measurements and I'll advise. Because every piece is made to order, minor adjustments at the cutting stage are sometimes possible - just ask before ordering.

Can I order a ready-to-order piece in my own measurements? Yes. This is called made-to-measure and sits between ready-to-order and full bespoke. There's a supplement on the standard price; contact me for a quote.

Fabric & Care

Where do your fabrics come from? Tweed is sourced from Yorkshire and Scottish mills. Linen is European. Linings, buttons, and trims are chosen piece by piece. I'll always tell you exactly what your garment is made from.

How do I care for tweed? Brush regularly, hang on a wide wooden hanger, and dry-clean only when needed, tweed prefers airing to washing. Detailed care instructions are included with every piece.

How do I care for linen? Linen softens beautifully with wear. Wash cool, line dry, and press while slightly damp for the crispest finish.

Press & Stockists

Are isabelleRANDALL pieces stocked anywhere else? No. Every piece is sold directly through this website, at events, or from the Scarborough atelier. This means I know every customer and every garment personally.

Where will you be next? See Events for the season's schedule.

Are you available for press, features, or collaborations? Yes, please get in touch.
